I loved this book that reveals so much about how our brains work in influencing our behavior. Of course, plenty of people I work with are quoted in this book, so I’m probably biased.

The above excerpt gave me an idea to tweak how I do my food log. Right now, I simply write down (by hand) what I eat during the day. No calorie count or anything fancy. Just a word or two e.g. coffee (black), biryani + raita, etc. Chances are that I won’t ever look at this log again. But as the author says, simply reflecting on the food you ate will influence what and how much you will eat next regardless of your hunger level.
So I plan to write in my food log not after I eat something, but rather write what my most recent meal/snack was just before I eat my next meal/snack. Let’s see how that works out.
