The End of All Things ★★★★★

An excellent conclusion to the Old Man’s War series. Except there’s a new book out now after ten years. Exciting.

Written as a set of novellas that still advance the plot, I loved the banter-driven narrative—the interrogations, pre-combat chatter, and especially Rafe Daquin’s snarky attitude coupled with Harry Wilson's quiet fortitude and confidence. Published in 2015, it's weird how prescient Scalzi may have been in recreating today's world - Colonial Union as the US, the Conclave as the rest of the world, the Raey as Russia, and the oligarchs as the Equilibrium (also explored in some Netflix movies).
