As a late watcher of this cult classic, I admired the Sorkin-esque bottle-episode-esque look into the one of the most infuriating forms of discipline in American schools. But it probably would lead to closer examinations of one's true self when restricted to confined spaces along with disparate individuals. But then so would prison. The brilliance of this movie comes across in nuggets of wisdom passed through bursts of brilliant dialogue. I'm not sure though the physical transformation of one of the more mysterious characters was warranted.
